The old kitchen stripped out, with the brick chimney breast exposed

Before

The new kitchen with tall units, an island and built-in ovens

After

The brief

The kitchen was tired, the electrics were from the 1980s and the old chimney breast took up a whole wall. The owners had bought their units and wanted someone to do everything else.

What we did

We stripped the room back, took down the redundant chimney breast with a gallow bracket above, rewired the room and moved the sink to the window. New plaster, a levelled floor and engineered oak went down before we fitted the units, worktops and splashback.

How it went

Four weeks start to finish, with the cooker back on in week three. The owners did the painting themselves to save a bit.
