After

The brief

The new owners bought the house at auction. It had damp in the front room, lead pipes, no central heating upstairs and a bathroom off the kitchen. They wanted it done once and done properly.

What we did

We treated the damp and replaced the rotten ground-floor joists, rewired and re-plumbed the whole house, fitted a new boiler and radiators, and moved the bathroom upstairs into the box room. Every wall was re-plastered in lime where it needed to breathe and gypsum where it didn't.

We kept what was worth keeping: the sash windows were overhauled, the fireplaces restored and the original doors stripped and rehung.

How it went

Five months on site with the owners living elsewhere. We sent a photo update every Friday and kept to the budget, with one change for a new front door they decided they wanted.
